METHODS OF LANGUAGE LOCALIZATION IN AUDIOVISUAL TRANSLATION (BASED ON VIDEO GAMES)

This article is devoted to the study of the current problem of language localization, the purpose of localization is to make the software more accessible and understandable for local users, given the difference in language and culture. It can be noted that localization is currently a complex technological, textual, communicative process through which these digital texts and programs are processed for use in linguistic contexts. However, the localization process is not only a simple translation of texts. It involves adapting cultural realities, changing game mechanics, and sometimes reworking storylines to fit the preferences and expectations of the target audience. The article in the course of the study examined various types of translation transformations and lexical transformations, compared the texts of the interfaces of the original and localized versions, and also identified various types of translation changes used in the localization of game interfaces; analysis of localization of proper names, game mechanics and character dialogues was carried out. The main feature of game localization can be considered a certain interdisciplinary nature of this type of translation activity: a video game combines both artistic and technical text.
