This article delves into the significant contributions of Аkhmet Baitursynuly, a prominent Kazakh linguist, to the field of Kazakh linguistics, with a specific focus on Kazakh writing and literacy. The selection of this topic is driven by three key reasons. Firstly, the contemporary relevance of Kazakh writing is paramount, as since 2017, the Republic of Kazakhstan has undertaken an initiative to transition its writing system from Cyrillic to Latin script. Consequently, various issues pertaining to Kazakh writing, including the Kazakh alphabet and orthography, have arisen, leading researchers to explore the origins of the Kazakh national alphabet, which, in this context, is attributed to Akhmet Baitursynuly. This aligns with our second reason, as the previous year marked the 150th anniversary of Akhmet Baitursynuly, an occasion that has been commemorated at the international level by UNESCO. Lastly, our article is closely connected to the theme of our doctoral dissertation, and while it primarily serves as a review article, it encompasses the findings of a survey conducted to gain deeper insights into the research topic.

Currently, the introduction of new technologies into the educational process, along with traditional forms of education, leads to the emergence of new, modern forms and technologies of learning. One of the areas where the importance and effectiveness of modern technologies and their application are manifested at a high level is the process of teaching listening skills. The greatest attention in the conditions of mastering a foreign language and developing communicative competence in a foreign language is paid to listening. This is because it is known that any communication is not carried out without listening. The article discusses the features of Edutainment technology, one of the modern teaching technologies used in the process of teaching listening skills. In addition, the advantages and possible disadvantages of Edutainment technology have been analyzed. Experimental teaching was taken as the main method of research work and the effectiveness of the use of Edutainment technology in the process of teaching listening skills was proved in practice.

The article linguo-axiological examines the linguistic picture of spiritual and moral values in Shakarim's work. The purpose of the study is to study the poetics of Shakarim in the linguo-axiological aspect, to determine the ways of transmitting national spiritual values in the poet's work through linguistic units. The article uses methods of generalization, linguo-axiological, conceptual analysis, and formulation of materials. In the course of the study, the authors analyze such concepts as mind, thought, heart, soul, truth, pleasure, support, conscience, love, expressing spiritual and moral value. The continuity of these concepts in the poetry of Abai Shakarim is analyzed. As a result of the research, it is concluded that the poet conveyed spiritual and moral values in an artistic and poetic language understandable to ordinary people, with the aim of deeply immersing Islamic values into the human soul, relying on centuries-old customs, knowledge of the people. The conclusions made in the course of the study are of great theoretical and practical importance. The conclusions reached in the article can be used in research in the direction of "Linguoaxiology", as well as in special courses such as "Shakarim studies", "Stylistics of the Kazakh language", "The Language of poetry".

Использование неофициальных именований (прозвищ) – обычное явление в жизни общества, поскольку они выполняют важную функцию как с точки зрения личности, называемых объектов, так и с точки зрения социума, сложившихся культурных традиций, народного имятворчества. Прозвища придают индивидуальность, сохраняют культуру общества, служат для дифференциации и идентификации. Цель нашего исследования – выявить лексико-семантические, структурные и мотивационные особенности, а также классификацию по происхождению наиболее часто используемых прозвищ по отношению к объектам (на материале городов Астаны и Алматы). Как особый тип наименований прозвища привлекают внимание своими уникальными качествами как чрезвычайно оригинальные примеры языка, общества, культуры, человеческих отношений, которые их формируют. Интерес к ним не ослабевает, поскольку прозвища, относящиеся к неофициальным именованиям, отражают взаимодействие языка, сознания и культуры, требующие осмысления на основе междисциплинарных исследований. Неофициальные именования внутригородских объектов (урбанонимы) не имеют официального статуса, но представляют уникальный лингвистический пласт для изучения, выражающий идентичность и культуру жителей мегагородов. В ходе лексико-семантического анализа выявлено, что неофициальные именования, используемые для объектов мегагородов Казахстана – Астана и Алматы, могут быть обусловлены с местной культурой, историей, общественными событиями и даже локальными легендами и сказками.

This article presents ways to overcome intercultural barriers in the English language classroom through designing additional teaching materials about British culture. The article presents the results of a pedagogical experiment on the implementation of these materials into the educational process. The experiment involved 10th grade students and English teachers from Gymnasium 147 in Almaty. The following themes were tested during the experiment: "Eating in Britain", "Holidays", “Modern families”, “Making friends with Westerns”, “Art connects people from different cultures”. The elaboration of supplementary materials was carried out taking into account the level, age, needs and interests of the pupils. Modern methods and approaches such as "Flipped classroom", "Project technology", and "Role play" were used to overcome intercultural barriers in English lessons. During the conducted pedagogical experiment we can note that the more students are exposed to a foreign language culture, the more naturally they communicate with foreigners. Moreover, knowledge of the culture of the country of the target language enables students to think in a foreign language.

В статье рассматриваются литературные стратегии казахских писателей А. Нурпеисова в романе-дилогии «Последний долг» и С. Жубатырулы в романе-трилогии «Абыржы». Отмечается, что в указанных произведениях художественно осмысляется проблема высыхания Аральского моря. А. Нурпеисов выражает свою гражданскую позицию через обращённый к себе «ты-монолог» (В. Е. Хализев) главного героя Жадигера. На основе глубоких размышлений героя об экологических проблемах, узкая сцена частной жизни, ограниченной в пространстве и во времени, раздвигается до предельно универсальной общечеловеческой сцены с «последними вопросами» бытия и сознания. Жадигер является носителем экологического сознания, истоки которого в фольклорном восприятии окружающей природы, частью которой является человек. Писатель-эколог С. Жубатырулы исследует проблему Арала не столько в линейном, сколько в глубинном плане. Сознание и подсознание М. Жармекенова, автора проекта по осушению моря, отражает его позднее раскаяние за содеянное. В результате сравнительного анализа выявлены общие и отличительные черты авторских стратегий: так, и Нурпеисов, и Жубатырулы раскрывают процессы становления экологического сознания через показ ретроспективных психологических переживаний и внутренние монологи-рефлексии главных героев. В то же время, только для романа С. Жубатырулы характерна стратегия потока сознания.

The study evaluates the preservation of metaphorical content when translating Boris Pasternak's poems into English and Kazakh. This topic becomes relevant given Pasternak's increasing popularity among Kazakh-speaking audiences who pay attention to language arts in the context of Kazakh literature. The study substantiates its relevance by the lack of systematic research in this area and the need for analysis, despite the relevance of the topic and the importance of Pasternak for Kazakh-speaking audiences. A comparative analysis of the original and translated poems revealed that Pasternak's poems are successfully adapted for foreign-language audiences, but cannot always convey the complexity of metaphors. This confirms the relevance of the study, which aims to fill the gap in systematic research on this topic. The study uses comparative, historical and observational methods to analyse Pasternak's original and translated texts with regard to metaphorical elements. The results show that the translation of metaphorical elements, due to the similarities between Russian and English, is generally possible. However, some of the author's metaphors may lose their original depth in the process of translation due to national-cultural peculiarities. This study provides a contribution to the field of literary translation and enriches the understanding of the difficulties associated with the preservation of metaphors in literary translations.

This article examines the metaphorical concept of "UNITY" in media materials during and after the January 2022 events in Kazakhstan so called "Bloody January". According to J. Lakoff and M. Johnson, the essence of a conceptual metaphor consists of the transfer of one linguistic unit by means of a completely different unit, that our everyday conceptual system, within the framework of which we think, is metaphorical in nature. In this regard, the metaphor allows us to emphasize extremely important aspects of the functioning and representation of the concept “UNITY” in its connection with other concepts. Through linguistic and cognitive analysis, we scrutinize the metaphors employed to depict unity, shedding light on their role in shaping discourse and public perception during this critical period. The results of the study allow us to conclude that the process of actualization and metaphorization is the basis for the functioning of key representatives of the concept “UNITY”, and also carries mechanisms that allow the formation of new phraseological units in language and culture. Using critical discourse analysis, the article examines examples of metaphorical understanding of “UNITY” as a linguistic phenomenon.

This article examines the trends in the development of Kazakh children's literature in the 1950s and 1960s, focusing on its thematic and ideological orientation. It also delves into the creative world of poet Adyrbek Sopybekov, whose significant contributions to the field are explored. The author analyzes fantastic poems and other selected works by A. Sopybekov, considered the best examples of children's poetry, and paying close attention on their thematic, ideological features, and artistic aspects. Children's poetry during the years of national independence remains a relatively understudied topic. Examining the creative laboratory of poets who have worked significantly in this direction, and thereby studying the direction and nature of modern children's poetry, drawing conclusions about thematic and ideological features, artistic aspects, is one of the urgent tasks facing the science of national literary studies. While valuable insights into Adyrbek Sopybekov's children's works have appeared in the press, a dedicated, comprehensive analysis of his creative portrait within the framework of Kazakh literary studies is still lacking. This article aims to address this gap by offering a broader differentiation of the poet's work, thereby assessing his characteristic style, his methods of conveying artistic ideas to children, and the educational value inherent in his writing. Additionally, it seeks to evaluate A. Sopybekov's contributions to Kazakh children's literature of the 1950s and 1960s and to gain a deeper understanding of his poetic skill.
